Mollie launches payment solutions in Portugal for the growing ecommerce market

How Mollie helps Portuguese businesses grow faster
Mollie’s expansion into the Portuguese market will help companies, from startups to large corporations, simplify online and in-person payment processing, reporting, fraud prevention and financing.
Mollie offers a complete localised solution, including local payment methods such as MB WAY and Multibanco and more than 35 other options, such as Apple Pay, PayPal, and Google Pay. In addition, Mollie offers in-person payment solutions, which are ideal for companies with omnichannel customers.
Portuguese companies also benefit from an intuitive dashboard, providing real-time access to financial data and simplified management functions. This allows companies to monitor transactions, process refunds, and make strategic decisions based on concrete data.
“At MeV Green Mobility, we believe offering our Portuguese customers an easy and hassle-free payment experience is essential. Switching to Mollie helps us do this, with seamless integration of MB Way, Multibanco and other payment options. Their omnichannel solution, which includes in-store terminals, has significantly improved our customer experience, both online and offline,” said Márcio Pereira, Co-Founder and Managing Director of MeV Green Mobility.
A growing presence in Lisbon and across Europe
In 2022, Mollie opened a tech hub in Lisbon, which currently employs 60 professionals. With the platform’s official launch in Portugal, the company will extend this centre to the commercial and customer support areas, reinforcing its commitment to a personalised service adapted to the needs of local customers. By the end of the year, Mollie plans to hire another 20 employees.
“Entering the Portuguese market is a big step for Mollie, and we want to be part of this journey, as a partner that supports companies with simple and effective payment solutions. Expanding our Lisbon team to include commercial and support functions strengthens our ability to deliver a higher quality of service to our customers,” said Koen Köppen, CEO of Mollie.
Over 250,000 European companies have chosen Mollie for its all-in-one solution, which simplifies payments and financial management. In addition to Portugal, the company plans to bring its innovative payment solution to additional new EU markets soon.
